Our Service
Happy Little Butterfly provides high quality care and education for children aged 5 weeks to 6 years. Our learning programs are informed by the Early Years Learning Framework and foster children’s learning and development within a child-led, play-based program.
We believe that in order for children to become active participants in their learning they must first feel safe, valued, and respected. We provide a welcoming and nurturing home away from home to help all of our children learn and grow together.
Our service is fully registered and approved for the government child care benefit.
We are open Monday – Friday, 6:00am to 6:00pm.
Our Philosophy
At Happy Little Butterfly, we believe in the value of child-led learning and that children learn best when they are free to play and have fun. It is our role as educators to create an environment that is inviting and continuously changing, allowing the children to explore and discover what interests them. It is also our responsibility to use these interests to create learning experiences in which the child can extend on their interests and make new discoveries. Each child learns in different ways and we recognise the importance of this when creating learning experiences.
We recognise the importance of providing children with a safe, secure and supportive learning environment and are committed to building trusting, positive relationships with children that allow them to feel comfortable getting involved and exploring their environment. It is important to treat children with respect and allow them to develop their self-esteem and self-confidence through encouragement as well as giving them the tools to work independently and develop their self-help skills.
As educators, we aim to build positive relationships with families, celebrating the child’s individual successes and providing one another with ideas and insight that fosters consistency and adequate care. We recognise that it is important to learn about each individual child’s background and beliefs, respecting, understanding and celebrating diversity within our curriculum.
Positive role modelling, encouragement and reinforcement are used as tools to direct and promote behaviours while maintaining a consistent environment and managing challenging behaviours, with continual consultation with parents. Through engaging children in these practices and experiences we aim to build high self-esteem and self-worth. A positive self-concept, high self-esteem and social competence are the basis for learning. Educators will ensure children are given meaningful praise for efforts, success and positive behaviour and will be supported to build positive relationships with their peers.
Our service embraces and implements the Early Years Learning Framework. We use this as a learning tool for our interactions, relationships, reflections, practices and curriculum. The Principles and Practices within the Early Years Learning Framework support the learning outcomes and promotes educators to reflect and draw upon their knowledge and understandings of contemporary theories, research and pedagogical practice, promoting children’s learning. Our policies and practices are reflective of the National Quality Framework and are assessed and monitored through the Department of Education.
